About Us

Redwing Ecological Surveys Ltd was established in February 2024.  In March 2024, Redwing acquired Stagfire Ecological Surveys, a well-established ecological survey business specialising in bird surveys across the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.  Stagfire was established in 2011 and had built up a strong reputation and client base in the renewables, construction and conservation sectors.

Redwing, based in Inverness was founded by four Directors. Phil Golder, Robin Reid and Ian Perks are passionate ecologists who between them bring over 50 years of experience working in ecology, conservation and research.  Richard Taylor complements the team with 25 years of experience in senior finance and commercial roles.

The dedicated survey team is led by Neil Robertson, an experienced Operations Manager with a background in Engineering and Logistics.  Environmental and Ecological Clerk or Works projects are led by Garry Riddoch.  Redwing has a diverse client base and we are able to take on large scale projects across Scotland including the more remote offshore islands of the Outer Hebrides and Northern Isles.  We have extensive experience working across a range of habitats, particularly in remote and challenging environments.  We are always looking for new opportunities and ways to improve our methods such as through the use of novel technologies.

We are able to offer a wide range of surveys and services including bird, habitat, site condition and vegetation surveys, protected species and mammal surveys, EnvCoW and ECoW.

Many of our team have a background in conservation and get involved in our conservation projects.  We are passionate about the natural world and finding sustainable solutions to our work and the growing pressures on our environment.
